Rtriva respects and values your privacy.
This Privacy Policy explains how we may collect, use, store, share, or otherwise process your personal data when you visit the Rtriva website, download or use Rtriva software, purchase or activate a software license, create or use an account, subscribe to a service, or contact us.
This Privacy Policy applies to:
- the official Rtriva website and its related pages;
- the Windows and Mac desktop versions of Rtriva Data Recovery;
- Rtriva account, order, and license management services; and
- Rtriva customer support, email communications, and related services.
Certain third-party services, such as payment platforms, third-party sign-in providers, or advertising platforms, may process your information independently under their own privacy policies. We recommend reviewing the applicable third-party privacy policy before using those services.
Policy Summary
What Data Do We Collect?
Depending on how you use our services, we may process:
- account, order, contact, and customer support information that you provide to us;
- website usage, device, network, and software operation information;
- information provided by payment processors, authorized resellers, or third-party sign-in providers; and

Does the Software Upload Scanned or Recovered Files?
Rtriva's core disk scanning, file analysis, file preview, and data recovery functions operate locally on your device.
Unless you choose to submit a screenshot, diagnostic log, or sample file to our Customer Support team, the normal scanning and recovery process does not send the following content to Rtriva servers:
- the contents of scanned files;
- recovered files;
- file previews or thumbnails;
- scan results;
- the contents of folders;
- raw disk sectors; or
- complete disk images.
We do not use the contents of scanned or recovered files for advertising, user profiling, or training artificial intelligence models.
Why Do We Process Personal Data?
We may process personal data to:
- provide software, account, order, and license services;
- process payments, refunds, and subscription management;
- respond to inquiries and provide technical support;
- maintain the security of our website and software;
- improve product stability and compatibility;
- send necessary service communications;
- conduct marketing where we have your consent or are otherwise permitted by law; and
- comply with legal and regulatory obligations.
Do We Sell Personal Data?
We do not sell your personal data for monetary compensation, and we do not sell your disk contents, scanned files, or recovered files.
If third-party marketing cookies are enabled on our website, certain laws may treat some cross-site advertising data transfers as a “sharing” of personal data. Where applicable, we provide the consent or opt-out choices required by law.
What Rights Do You Have?
Depending on the laws that apply where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to the processing of, or obtain a copy of your personal data. You may also have the right to withdraw consent or opt out of marketing communications.
You may submit a request using the contact details provided at the end of this Privacy Policy.
1. Personal Data We Collect
We process personal data only to the extent reasonably necessary to provide, maintain, protect, and improve our services.
The specific information we collect depends on how you interact with Rtriva, which features you use, and the choices you make.
1.1 Data You Provide Directly

We do not store your account password in plain text.
If you choose to sign in using Google, Apple, or another third-party account, we may receive the following information based on your authorization:
- your name;
- email address;
- third-party account identifier;
- profile image; and
- other basic account information that the third-party service is authorized to provide.
We do not receive your password for the third-party account.

Providing screenshots, logs, or attachments is generally optional. Choosing not to provide non-essential diagnostic information will not prevent you from using the software's basic functions, although it may affect our ability to diagnose a specific technical issue.
(4) Other Information You Voluntarily Provide
If you participate in a survey, promotion, product test, or another activity, you may choose to provide additional information.
We will explain the relevant collection purpose through the applicable activity page and obtain consent where required by law.

- the contents of deleted or lost files;
- recovered files;
- file previews or thumbnails;
- file lists contained in scan results;
- the contents of folders;
- raw disk sectors;

- personal data contained in files; or
- passwords, keys, or account credentials stored in files.
Rtriva cannot remotely browse your scan results or recovered files through its ordinary product administration systems.
(3) Files Provided to Customer Support
Routine customer support generally does not require you to send us the files you are attempting to recover.
If analysis of a particular file is genuinely necessary to investigate file compatibility or corruption, we should first explain:
- why the file is needed;
- the minimum amount of information we recommend providing;
- how the file will be used;
- the potential privacy risks; and
- how the file will be handled after the issue has been investigated.
You may decline to provide the file and instead provide an error screenshot, file type, software log, or other information that does not contain the file's contents.
Before sending an attachment, remove or redact information that is not relevant to the issue. Please do not submit:
- identity documents;

(4) Marketing Cookies
Where any required consent has been obtained, marketing cookies may be used to:
- measure advertising effectiveness;
- attribute conversions to advertising campaigns;
- manage advertising frequency;
- show potentially relevant advertising; and
- understand whether an advertising visit resulted in a download or purchase.
Marketing cookies cannot read files that you scan or recover on your computer.
3.2 Managing Cookies
You may manage or disable non-essential cookies through:
- the cookie settings provided on our website;
- browser privacy settings;
- browser extensions; or
- applicable opt-out or privacy preference tools.
Where required by law, we obtain consent before enabling non-essential cookies.
If you delete cookies or use a different browser or device, you may need to set your preferences again.
4. How We Share Personal Data
We share only the data reasonably necessary to provide the relevant service and only for lawful, necessary, and clearly defined purposes.
We do not provide disk contents, scanned files, or recovered files to advertising platforms, analytics providers, or other commercial partners merely because you use a scanning or recovery feature.

- improvement of customer service efficiency.
(3) Payment Service Providers
These providers may support:
- payment processing;
- subscription management;
- refund processing;

Affiliated entities are expected to process the information in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.
4.3 Public Authorities and Courts
Where required by law, or where we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary for one of the following purposes, we may disclose limited information:
- complying with a valid legal process;
- responding to a legally binding court order or regulatory request;
- investigating fraud, abuse, or security issues;
- preventing serious harm; or

- transfer of a business or service,
relevant personal data may be reviewed or transferred as part of the transaction.
We will take reasonable measures to protect the data and, where required by applicable law, notify you before the data becomes subject to a materially different policy.
Because the file contents generated during the normal scanning and recovery process are not stored on Rtriva servers, those locally stored files are not customer data assets that can be included in a corporate transaction.
4.5 At Your Direction
We may provide specific information to a third party when you expressly request or consent to the disclosure.
5. Data Security and Retention
5.1 Data Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal data against:

You should also protect your account password and sign out after using a public or shared device.
No network transmission, electronic system, or data storage technology can be guaranteed to be completely risk-free.
If a security incident may affect your personal data, we will investigate it promptly and provide any notifications or remedies required by applicable law.

- customer support records are retained for a limited period after an issue is resolved;
- website and security logs are retained for a limited period based on operational and security needs;
- optional diagnostic and analytics data is retained only for the period reasonably necessary for product analysis; and
- cookies are retained for the periods described in the applicable cookie settings.
When data is no longer needed, we may:
- delete it;
- anonymize it;
- de-identify it; or
- isolate it from systems used for ordinary business operations.
If the law requires us to retain certain information, we will continue to retain it only for the required purpose and period.
Scan results and recovered files stored on your device remain under your control. Deleting your account does not automatically delete local files stored on your device.
6. International Transfers of Personal Data

- other transfer mechanisms recognized by local law.
You may contact us using the details in this Privacy Policy to request additional information about safeguards relevant to transfers of your personal data.
The contents of files involved in the normal scanning and recovery process continue to be processed locally on your device and are not transferred merely because we use international service providers.
7. Children's Privacy
Our services are not primarily directed to children under the age of 16.
We do not knowingly market to children under 16 or knowingly collect their personal data.
If you have not reached the minimum age required to use the relevant service in your country or region, you should use the service only with the permission and guidance of a parent or legal guardian.

If we cannot comply with a deletion request, we will explain the reason where required by applicable law.

We will assess your request. If we have compelling legitimate grounds recognized by applicable law, we may continue the necessary processing and explain the basis for doing so.

The privacy practices of a third party that independently determines the purposes and means of processing personal data are not governed by this Privacy Policy.
We recommend reviewing the third party's:
- privacy policy;
- terms of service;
- permission notices;
- cookie settings; and
- account and advertising preferences.
If a third party processes personal data as a service provider acting on behalf of Rtriva, we impose appropriate data protection requirements as required by applicable law.
